Fassmer steps down as CEO of Sberbank 1 SR-Bank.
Telenor's board has named Benedict Shilfred Fassmer as Telenor's new CEO, the company announced. Stock market notification.
Fassmer is currently the CEO of Sberbank 1 SR-Bank, but has now resigned from his job.
He was previously Executive Vice President at Fremtid Forsikring and Executive Vice President at DNB, where he headed the Corporate Market. Fassmer has been the Chairman of Oslo Bors, a member of the Supervisory Board of Norges Bank and a member of the Board of Whips.
Chigwe Breke will step down from his position on December 1 after more than nine years as CEO. Bracke will retire at the end of the year.
– The Board has been searching for the best qualified candidate to lead Telenor and we are delighted that Benedict Schilfred Fassmer has agreed to take on the role, says Chairman Jens Peter Olsson.
The company wrote that the team began looking for Brake's successor this winter. Both external and internal candidates are considered.
– Benedict's strong senior management background in technology and customer-oriented companies, and extensive senior management and team experience impressed the board, says Olson.
Fassmer says in the news that he is honored to be given the opportunity to lead Telenor.
– I am very much looking forward to contributing to Telenor's continued growth and customer focus, he says.
Sigwe Brekke has been CEO of Telenor since August 2015.
