In May, Lorraine (39) escaped by winning the Eurovision Song Contest, thus Sweden will again be the host country next year.
They’ve also been there six times before, including after ABBA won with “Waterloo” in 1974.
Next year it will be 50 years since Sweden first won the singing competition, and precisely this detail did not go unnoticed.
In the time following Lorraine’s victory, there was speculation as to whether the victory was planned to reach the final next year in ABBA’s home country. Many fans believe that the legendary group will meet again during Eurovision 2024.
If ABBA member Bjorn Ulvaeus (78) is to be believed, it’s not entirely out of the question.
In SVT’s Morgonstudion, he says it is not out of the question that there will be a performance in connection with next year’s competition.
– Yes, but I’m only talking about myself. According to the report, I certainly cannot speak for others Express.
Ulvaeus, like many fans, thinks it is a strange coincidence that Sweden is the exact host country during the 50th anniversary.
– It’s a little strange, isn’t it? It is precisely in Sweden, precisely in that year. Then the finale also happened, so we don’t quite know yet. There are a lot of people who think: “What kind of fun things should we come up with?”.
According to SVT, the other male member of the group, Benny Andersson, stated as late as May 25 that he would not stand on the Eurovision stage again.
The band’s spokesperson, Jurel Hanser, had previously denied that ABBA was included in planning for next year’s music festival.
– Definitely Tanna thinking of the masses. No such plans have been drawn up. Plain denial!
