Bohinen is Stabaek’s new coach

Lars Buhenen is the new coach of Stabik. The club confirms this on website.

The 52-year-old has signed an agreement until 2023.

“You took a very exciting job, with a club and team that has ambitions and opportunities,” Buhenen tells TV 2, when we met him in Nadrod.

Now, Bohinen is taking charge of the Stabæk team who are hoping to go straight to the best company. The Series Champion from 2008 placed second to last in the Elite Series last year.

He is used to chasing promotion.

– I’ve lived with that in all the clubs I’ve been to, and I’ve been promoted three times. I am completely satisfied with that.

The club is currently fifth, after two consecutive losses to Brann and Stjørdals-Blink.

However, Buhenen is clear that the focus in the future should be on performance.

– I told the players that we should focus exclusively on performance, not results. This pursuit of results does not benefit anyone, and the conversations that revolve around it do not benefit anyone.

He is more than sure if it will work.

– You asked them not to read the tables, but you can’t do that, the 52-year-old laughs.

The newly appointed coach comes to the club with good experience. He has a past in the club. From 2007 to 2009, he was the sporting director of the sports team.

As a former athletic director, Bohen could say a thing or two about coaching appointments.

The smartest training date they’ve had in a long time, he says with a twinkle in his eye.

The coach’s son, Emil Bohenen, also played with Stabæk for several years. He now plays in the Italian Serie A football club for Salernitana.

Bohinen is now back on the sidelines after his contract with Sarpsborg 08 expired at the start of the year.

He was previously a coach for Alesund, Sandfjord and Asker, as well as the aforementioned Sarpsborg.
