Bryan Adams on his friendship with Princess Diana: - One of the best things that happened to me

It’s a song that had such a strong effect on Bryan Adams that he stopped playing it. Both for their own reasons, but not least for others.

The 64-year-old Canadian singer recently opened up in an interview with Sunday timesIt told, among other things, the story of the song “Diana”, which was released in 1984.

Rumors spread about the meaning of the song and whether it was about Princess Diana of Wales and her then-husband, Prince Charles, now King of Great Britain.

After the princess died in a car accident in Paris in 1997, Adams finished performing the song. He explained to The Times that the choice was made “out of respect” for Diana and her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

According to Adam’s accounts, the song in question was admired by Princess Diana, who reportedly found it “very funny.”

She is then said to have invited Adams to his home at Kensington Palace to drink tea and listen to the song again. They must have become better known there, he says.

– When you visited Kensington Palace for the first time, you didn’t say, “I need to talk to someone,” and you shouldn’t barge into someone’s life and find out everything in the first ten minutes. It was rather ‘let’s have a cup of tea’. But the better friends we become, the more I know about what’s going on, he says.

Adams says the two must have developed a “surreal” friendship.

-I loved Diana very, very much. She was a wonderful lady and a great inspiration. Meeting her was one of the best things that ever happened to me,” Adams says.

Accused by ex

The Prince and Princess of Wales married in 1981 and officially separated in 1996. Since 1990, Bryan Adams has reportedly been in a relationship with Danish model and “Bond girl” Cecily Thomsen. The latter couple has been together for about twelve years.

There were rumors of an affair between Adams and the princess, promoted by Thomsen himself. According to the Danish model, this must be one of the reasons for the separation in 2002.
