The sad news that fans of singer Celine Dion, 55, have been so dreading, recently emerged: she is canceling her world tour.

They were the first symptoms of a very rare neurological disease “stiff person syndrome”, which in Norwegian is called autoimmune sclerosing syndrome.

The disease causes increased muscle stiffness and painful spasms, which, according to Norsk Helseinformatikk, are triggered by both movements and strong emotions. The spasms make it easy to fall, and for many lead to living in a wheelchair. There is no cure for this disease.

Don’t give up

Dion had previously explained that the disease had affected her voice, such that she could no longer sing as well as before.

But she has a great team of doctors working to keep the disease at bay. She fights for her life and tries to keep her spirits up.
