The sad news that fans of singer Celine Dion, 55, have been so dreading, recently emerged: she is canceling her world tour.
So the concerts that were supposed to take place in Norway at the end of September will not be rescheduled – they have been cancelled.
– Celine will probably never tour again. A source close to her told CNN that she is in a lot of pain, and must receive daily physical therapy.
Celine’s world tour has been postponed several times – first because of the pandemic, and then because Celine herself fell ill. But now the mother of three has given up looking for new concert dates.
“I am so sorry to have to disappoint you again,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I’m working hard to get my strength back, but going on tour can be hard even when you’re at 100 percent. It’s not fair that I keep postponing concerts, and even though it breaks my heart, we’d better cancel everything — until I’m ready to get back on track.” The stage “.
But there are few who believe Dion could ever go on tour again in his life.
Celine’s course of illness began with her suffering from uncontrolled muscle spasms, which she thought were harmless, despite the fact that they were annoying.
But it turns out they’ve come up with something more serious.
They were the first symptoms of a very rare neurological disease “stiff person syndrome”, which in Norwegian is called autoimmune sclerosing syndrome.
The disease causes increased muscle stiffness and painful spasms, which, according to Norsk Helseinformatikk, are triggered by both movements and strong emotions. The spasms make it easy to fall, and for many lead to living in a wheelchair. There is no cure for this disease.
Don’t give up
Dion had previously explained that the disease had affected her voice, such that she could no longer sing as well as before.
But she has a great team of doctors working to keep the disease at bay. She fights for her life and tries to keep her spirits up.
– I want you all to know that I will not give up a fight, she says on Instagram.
