The wide-ranging Phoenix Open golf tournament got off to a somewhat unsportsmanlike start in the third round.

Many fans are said to have been denied entry due to weather conditions the day before. The common areas, which are actually grass, have finally turned into large piles of mud. It is said that they were later used as toboggan runs and party areas among many spectators.

To the hospital

It is also said that a spectator ended up in hospital after falling from the grandstand when the crowd-favorite hole, No. 16, was played.

The injuries are not said to be life-threatening, but she is still under observation in the hospital.

The event's alcohol outlet reportedly remained closed after fans managed to force their way through the originally closed doors.

Throughout the Waste Management Phoenix Open, a total of approximately 500,000 fans attend over the course of four days.
