'Euphoria' star Hunter Schiffer is moving away from trans roles

Hunter Schaeffer (25 years old) became world famous for her role as trans girl Jules, but now she turns down such roles.

Even though she is a trans woman and known as LGBTQ+ An activist, Schiffer wants to remove the focus on his sexual identity in his career.

In an interview with the magazine GQ The American actress and model states that she tries to avoid mentioning the word “trans” in interviews, and that she is not interested in taking on more transgender roles in film or television.

In the award-winning Euphoria series, Schiffer plays Jules, the girl who falls in love with Rue (played by Zendaya). Schiffer was barely 20 when the series premiered.

to GQ The 25-year-old explains that it took time to learn that she didn't need to limit herself to roles like these. I'm also tired of the fact that the conversation during interviews often refers to the fact that she's trans.

– After all, it feels degrading. Especially after high school, I got tired of talking about it.

Schiffer took on several assignments after “Euphoria,” including “The Hunger Games.” She also plays the lead role in the horror-thriller “Cuckoo,” which will premiere in May.

-I have worked hard to get where I am now, during these very difficult periods in my transformation process. “Now I just want to be a girl and move forward,” she says.

Sometimes Schaefer feels guilty that he was not his own spokesperson LGBTQ– the environment.

The role in the film “Euphoria” was Schaffer's acting debut. VG caught up with the star in Los Angeles in 2019, when the first season aired.

Even then, it was important for Schafer to make clear that Jules' role is in no way intended to be representative of the entire transgender community.

– That was one of the things I appreciated most about “Euphoria.” I didn't feel like the point of the series was to tick every minority box. Instead, she explained, it's about showing one's experience of transition, which doesn't necessarily reflect what others feel.

In an interview with the magazine, Schiffer also spoke about the intense sadness of the death of “Euphoria” co-star Angus Cloud last year.

-I have never lost such a close friend before, and a friend my age.

Cloud died of an overdose at the age of 25.

The secrecy surrounding Season 3 of “Euphoria” is great, but Schiffer is expected to return.

But she has many interests. In 2022, Schiffer made his directorial debut with the music video “Hornylovesickmess” by Norwegian artist Marie Olvin Ringheim, alias Girl in Red (25).
