The German gymnastics community is in mourning after receiving the news of the death of Mia Sophie Littke at the age of 16. The German Gymnastics Federation released the tragic news in a press release on Monday evening.
– The sadness in the gymnastics family is great, not least in the national team center, among her teammates and coaches in both Berlin and Ulm, where she trained and lived, writes the Gymnastics Association and continues:
– Mia was very popular and appreciated by her teammates and coaches thanks to her way of being. Despite her young age, she impressed early on with her discipline, hard work, and big ambitions.
The gymnast is referred to as a great talent. Moreover, the Gymnastics Association wrote that the 16-year-old is training to fulfill the dream of participating in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
The press release described the death as “extremely unexpected,” according to the German newspaper picture The gymnast died suddenly of cardiac arrest last weekend.
Former gymnastics star and coach Magdalena Bridska can’t find the words after receiving the news of the death. Litke was one of her first students when she came to Ulm.
-She was very skilled, worked hard and always gave 100% of her energy to training. I loved this sport with great passion. Her goal was the Olympics and she did everything to get there. I’m sure she can do it too. But I can’t imagine what the family is going through now. It’s a terrible story, Prediszka tells Bild.
