Landslide on road in Flatanger – 100 people quarantined – NRK Trøndelag

About 100 people were quarantined after crossing County Road 6928 in Flatanger on Friday afternoon.

But no one was hurt.

As a result, the road leading to Sitter and Udvorda is impassable.

Rune Strøm is a councilor in Flatanger municipality. He says he was not physically present at the landslide, but saw the scale through pictures and video.

– This is a very tough breed. We don’t have a complete overview yet. We don’t know if the landslide took the road, he tells NRK.

People run more and more in the lake downstream of the district road.

– heard the accident

Alf Åge Teigmo lives in Utvorda in Flatanger. He sits and waits for a boat ride home when NRK calls. Deigmo arrived at the scene of the accident just before hearing a major crash.

– When I arrived it was probably quiet on the road for two hours, but after a while I heard a loud crash. First came a river, then forest and big rocks. It was not a pleasant experience.

He says the road is frequently used by commuters and school buses carrying students.

Doubts have arisen whether the road will be opened in a couple of days.

– This is very difficult for many people. More people travel to Namsos for work. I have customers all over Namdalen, he says.

Now he has to rely on boat transfers to get there and back. The journey takes about 20 minutes.

Think about preparedness

The contractor at the site informs that the road will not be opened today and there will be some impact to the people.

– We need to think about preparedness. Both fire and health in the first instance. Fire brigade can use ribs. Plus, Rune Strom says a lot of people on both sides of the slide didn’t make it home.

Many of these residents are now transported by boat to their destinations.

– It doesn’t seem like it

Kjetil Langeng from Namsos also visited the accident site and says he has never seen anything like this with his own eyes before.

– It doesn’t seem like it. I was on site for fifteen minutes and then another landslide occurred. Big stones piled up.

He says that a couple of cars had stopped a short time before when they saw a lot of water flowing on the road.

Longeng does not believe the avalanche will stop immediately.

The landslide has gone over County Road 6928 at Smavika in Platangar. Flatanger is located in the north of Trøndelag.
