Police received reports on Saturday evening that a man had been assaulted just before the Muncabot tunnel in Sandvikveen.

The collision must have occurred in connection with crossing the road. The Police Media Unit reported that the person was pronounced dead at 7.45 pm.

A car hit the man.

“The driver was taken to the Bergen Emergency Department for medical attention after the incident, very upset and shaken. The driver is not a suspect,” police wrote in a press release.

The incident took place in the central part of the tunnel, which was closed.

– We haven’t received any information about the timing, but it may take some time. Marius Næs, traffic operator at the road transport center, says the accident team has arrived.

“The accident team of the National Road Administration has been alerted and is on its way to the scene of the accident. Police are currently conducting technical and tactical investigations at the scene. Criminal technicians from the Western Police District have also been called in,” the police wrote.

Due to this accident, there was a long queue at the place. Cars heading towards the city center were told to drive through the Floifjell tunnel.
