One arrested – may have used tear gas in a restaurant

About 25 people were inside the restaurant in Chokne when the man started spraying around him.

Police write at 18.28 that they have arrested a man inside a restaurant at Tangwal in Sokne.

The man sprayed a spray around himself, which was probably CS gas – that is, tear gas.

– There were around 25 people in the restaurant when the incident took place. Many felt uncomfortable. No one was injured or required medical attention. Police write that the man left the scene after the incident and was arrested a short time later at his residence.

Operations Manager John Rebstad tells VG the police are reporting that the man was not seriously injured, and is being treated as a personal injury complaint.

He says that there have been incidents in the past where the man has caused disruption in the restaurant, but the course of today's incident is not known.

Rebstadt says he doubts the man was a guest at the restaurant or came to spray.

– He sprinkled the ground. Some felt discomfort, such as difficulty breathing or burning eyes, says Rebstadt.

He stressed that such spraying is illegal in Norway.

– Can we continue with dinner after this?

– There were a lot of people on the scene when the police arrived, and it was broadcast so that the patrol didn't notice anything special, Rebstad replied.
