(Real Sociedad – Athletic Club 3-1) Alexander Sorloth (27) never stops scoring in Spain and on Saturday became only the second Norwegian to score in four consecutive La Liga matches.
Trondr took just 25 minutes to put Real Sociedad 1-0 up in the Basque derby against Athletic. A sweet reception in a close duel with two athletic defenses and a little spin and suddenly the lead is real.
With that said, Sørloth signs his name to a small part of La Liga’s history. Sørloth’s fourth goal in his last four matches means the 27-year-old can match John Carew’s streak.
The score was also Sorloth’s seventh of the season. Caro is the only Norwegian to pass a double-digit number of La Liga goals, when he scored 11 goals for Valencia in the 2000/01 season. Now there are only four goals left for this list to include two Norwegians.
After 12 minutes, Takefusa Kubo made it 2-0 to Real, before Oyhan Sunset pulled one back for Athletic just before half-time.
Early in the second half, Sorloth suffered an injury after being stepped on and eventually had to throw in the towel. Fortunately, the 27-year-old didn’t seem too impressed as he was applauded off the field by the home fans.
Substitute Mikel Oyarzabal had the honor of making it 3-1 from the penalty spot.
Real Sociedad is third in La Liga, three points behind Real Madrid but with one game more than Los Blancos.
