At 22.56 on Saturday evening the police received information about a heather fire in Scarpovica in Ålesund.
– It burned well on the landscape. “We are considering evacuating more people if necessary,” says police operations manager Eivind Klokersund.
There should be about 70 meters from the fire to the nearest building. Police use drones to get an overview.
– Kjetil Iversen, duty manager of the fire service, says that a relatively large area is burning.
He says the wind is “favorable” at the moment.
– So it is not yet rated as a serious hazard to homes.
There is a fire in the landscape at Olsfjellet on the way to Atlanterhausparken in Ålesund. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Police are asking nearby residents to keep doors and windows closed and to turn off non-essential ventilators.
More fires on Saturday

– The fire is currently under control, but everything depends on the wind not returning and strengthening, says Ann Birgit Arras, operations manager of the police at 10.17 pm on Saturday.
The fire service is now using a heat-seeking drone in efforts to put out many small fires on land.
