Germany was shaken by a tragic swimming accident that claimed the lives of two brothers, aged seven and nine.

The German brothers, who lived in England with their parents, were vacationing in their homeland with their families to visit friends when they suddenly disappeared.

The public prosecutor of the city district of Aachen will investigate the accident and find out whether the deaths were caused by negligence.

Earlier this summer, a 16-year-old Belgian national was found dead in the same lake, after he jumped from a pier. A diving team found the teen dead two hours later.
