Germany was shaken by a tragic swimming accident that claimed the lives of two brothers, aged seven and nine.

The German brothers, who lived in England with their parents, were vacationing in their homeland with their families to visit friends when they suddenly disappeared.

Later that evening, German authorities confirmed that the two boys had been found dead. According to the newspaper, they were immediately revived and taken by air ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Health was initially described as critical, but life could not be saved. During the night, the two children, aged seven and nine, died.
The public prosecutor of the city district of Aachen will investigate the accident and find out whether the deaths were caused by negligence.
Earlier this summer, a 16-year-old Belgian national was found dead in the same lake, after he jumped from a pier. A diving team found the teen dead two hours later.
