The police indicate that the wanted perpetrator is armed and dangerous – NRK Urix – Foreign news and documentaries

At least 22 people were killed and between 50 and 60 others injured in a mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday evening. Lewiston City Council Member Robert McCarthy confirms this to CNN.

Police sources also confirmed to ABC News that at least 20 people were killed and dozens were injured. The perpetrator is said to have opened fire in several places, and a bowling alley and a local bar have been mentioned.

A video obtained by CNN shows people jumping from the bowling alley.

CNN indicates that it is not clear how many people were injured by bullets.

– Armed and dangerous

The police confirm the identity of the person they are looking for. He is a 41-year-old man who previously trained as a shooting coach.

He was supposed to have recently lost his job at a recycling plant in Maine, and was supposed to be wanted by police on domestic violence charges, according to CNN.

The photo shows a man with a beard, wearing a long-sleeved shirt and pants, and holding an automatic rifle in a shooting position.

Police are asking the public not to contact the man.

Police wrote on Facebook that the man in his forties is considered armed and dangerous.

The Sheriff’s Office also released a photo of the white truck that must have belonged to the man. At approximately 6 a.m. Norwegian time, the car was located in Lisbon, a little more than a mile southeast of Lewiston, according to CNN.

The police are searching for this car, which must belong to the perpetrator.

Residents of both Lewiston and Lisbon are now being asked to seek shelter while the perpetrator is at large. Hundreds of police officers will participate in the pursuit of the 40-year-old man, according to CNN.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff is urging all stores to close their doors. State Police are asking people in Maine to stay inside and lock their doors.

Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston said in a statement that they are dealing with the cases of several victims, and that they are coordinating with hospitals in the area to receive patients.

The White House says President Joe Biden is aware of the incident in Lewiston and has spoken with the governor of Maine.

CNN wrote that the FBI provided resources and personnel to local police. The Ministry of Justice is also monitoring the situation closely.

Lewiston is located less than six miles north of Portland, Maine’s largest city.
