We have recently published an article about Circular Devices‘ Puzzlephone, which is the competitor of Google‘s Project Ara. According to rumors, the Finnish modular smartphone Puzzlephone will appear on the market in 2015. But it’s not the only modular mobile device from Finland we are going to see in the coming future.
Another project of a kind is the Finnish start-up Vsenn, co-founded by a former Nokia Android X program manager. Vsenn motto relates to the ongoing evolution accompanying everything people use in their day-to-day life, and states “Evolves with you“.
It seems that Vsenn’s smartphone won’t have as many changeable parts as Project Ara. Users will be able to switch camera, battery and processor/RAM. However, nothing is mentioned about other modules at the official website.
In addition to the phone itself, the company will offer Vanilla Android OS with guaranteed updates for the next 4 years. Besides, customers will be provided with free access to a VPN network and secure Cloud. A variety of back covers will be offered as well, so users may design their phone look to fit their lifestyle (this feature is likely to be provided by all modular phone manufacturers).
