Federal Government Decision: Travel alert issued for corona risk areas

Status: 11.06.2021 2:58 pm.

On July 1, the federal government lifted the travel alert for tourists in Corona danger areas. It affects almost 100 countries worldwide. One of the foreign ministers, Mass., Said, “Let’s look at the default again.”

For more than a year, the federal government has been removing the travel warning for tourists to corona risk areas on July 1st. It affects almost 100 countries worldwide. “After a long month of locking up, we can still look forward to default, which also applies to travel,” Foreign Minister Heiko Moss explained of the move.

Until July 1, the federal government will not generally advise against travel abroad. While the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland are no longer classified as risk areas, the Federal Foreign Office’s travel advice will only call for “special warnings” in the future. For example, it affects large parts of Italy, Spain and the whole of Austria starting next Sunday.

For most Austrian federal states, the classification for a risk area was already removed a week ago. From Sunday it will apply to Tyrol and the rest of Warreburg. However, anyone entering Austria from Germany can show a negative antigen or PCR test. This does not apply to anyone who can be vaccinated or who has already had coronary heart disease and is recovering.

The Corona Travel Alert currently applies to all parts of the world, with the number of new infections per 100,000 population exceeding 50 in seven days. As of July 1, it only applies to areas where 200 and more dangerous virus types are prevalent. But this is only 40 out of a total of 200 countries worldwide.

“Hope and Hope Again”

“Hope and optimism will return to Germany in the summer,” Mass said. With all reasonable confidence, the absence of a travel alert is not one thing: a call for the carefree.

“Travel with common sense and a sense of proportion. That is the goal of this summer. The danger posed by the virus and its mutants is far away.” If you look at Asia or South America it shows. “That’s why we continue to warn of places that make sense for travel: areas with high incidence and virus variability.” It’s clear: “In the summer of 2021, no one can say they were surprised by the epidemic while on vacation.”

Travel warning does not apply to other countries

The holiday island of Portugal, Madeira and Cyprus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Lebanon, Moldova, Montenegro, northern Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine were also removed from the list. Norway has two regions. For all of these countries and regions, the Federal Foreign Office does not issue travel alerts. The United States and Canada were not at risk as of Sunday. In both countries, however, Germans who do not live there are barred from entering.

Entry restrictions will also be relaxed for Georgia, Qatar and Mexico. All three countries have been downgraded from high incidence to high risk areas. This eliminates the general obligation to be isolated for five to ten days upon entry into Germany. Those with a negative test no longer need to isolate themselves.
