According to the Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Independent, a video on social media shows Ukrainian soldiers standing next to local residents in Zolota Palka, a village in the north of Kherson region.

Further Kyiv Post Ukrainian forces reportedly captured Zolota Balka and Dudchany village in the same area.

Ukraine has not officially confirmed that it has recaptured those areas.

Expert: – Low incremental attack

Balle Yadstebo, headmaster of the war school, told NRK that attacks were taking place along the Dnieper River, but it was somewhat uncertain how far Ukrainian forces had advanced.

Ukraine attack in the region

In late August, Ukraine launched an offensive against Russian forces in the Kherson region. Ukraine has been reluctant to release information about the attack.

Kherson was the first to be captured by Russian forces after the invasion in February.

The city is located in the north of the Crimean Peninsula, in the south of the country and on the banks of the Dnieper River, which bisects the country. So Gerson is considered strategically important.
