The RTX 4070 Super is much faster than its predecessor

The performance of the RTX 4070 Super was revealed before the beta ban for the new cards ended today.

Costs are just under 8,000 NOK

The RTX 4070 Super (launching in Norway tomorrow) has 22 percent more cores than its predecessor: from 5888 to 7168. That's almost 100 percent of what the AD104 chip is capable of and will clearly be a marked improvement. The amount of RAM remains unchanged at 12 GB. The TDP is set by Nvidia at 220W as standard, but manufacturers will be able to play with the maximum and set it up to 245W – which is what MSI will do with the Gaming X Slim.

As we also reported a few days ago:

“Now it turns out that the RTX 4070 Super is Until now Better than Nvidia first reported. Because they initially wrote that the card only has 36MB of L2 medium storage space. Later, Nvidia updated the specifications and revealed that the card actually has 48MB of L2 intermediate storage, the maximum of what the AD104 chip is capable of.

3DMark tests reveal the following percentage improvements vs:

  • RTX 4070 Super: 7 percent slower than 4070 Ti
  • RTX 4070 Super: 18 percent faster than RTX 4070
  • RTX 4070 Super – Average: 15 to 19 percent faster than the RTX 4070
  • RTX 4070: 8 to 5 percent slower than RTX 4070 Ti

The RTX 4080 will launch on January 31 for NOK 12,999, the 4070 Ti on January 24 for NOK 10,399 and the 4070 Super on January 17 for NOK 7,799. These are the prices from Geforce.no. So it would be interesting if these prices were pushed further by some manufacturers and online stores. No matter what happens, the time for the NOK 15,000 RTX 4080 is over.
